The iconic pelican, a common sighting along Australian coastlines and waterways, symbolises an abundance of fish life and healthy ecosystems. The sight of a pelican always brings a smile with the thought of the iconic and infamous Mr Percival. Their nests are prepared by the female, who digs a scrape using her bill and feet, and carefully lines it with vegetation. During courtship, the birds’ bills and feet change colour, mimicking Autumn’s beautiful sunset skies.
